01Julwe burnt yer friggin whitehouse!11

Today is Canada Day, and once again despite my protests to the contrary at work, I had to be there bright and early at 4:45am. So once again, I miss the big party on Parlament Hill. 1st of July party I usually watch via webcam, drink Moosehead beer, and listen to really awesome Canadian bands. But today For the first couple of “offical” hours of Canada day, I was stocking candy, and listening to American propeganda*, proclaiming the the USA is the bestest of all the coutries, and listing to depressing “spirtually uplifting” country songs about the flag. Course in my honour, they played Loverboy, just for Canada Day. (I wish)

So since I worked on my holiday, its only fitting that I have to work on the 4th, or as I like to call it ID4 just like the movie. At once again 4:45am. Oh hells yeah, I’m friggin excited.

*I hope you realise that I am being sarcastic.

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!” We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Being a self-centred individual, all you Canadians blogging about Canada Day yesterday made me feel like you were all conspiring to rub in the fact that I am not, at present, physically in Canada (nor in any way Canadian, but who’s checking?). But my heart is! Does this make it okay that I celebrated Canada Day in my own little corner of the world?
