digitial ed: behind the webcam

1. You have mentioned multiple times that you would love to go to London.. you have even e-mailed and attempted to set up a move to live there. What’s holding you back ??

Actually I have, when I was going to CDI in Vancouver, I was looking into moving there and getting a job. I had no idea how to do it. I actually had a job say, that if I could make it over there, and deal with all the immagration, I would have a IT job with their company. But it was like any job, I had to find a place to live, everythign on my own, the company would not help me in any way, save for giving me the job. As I found out through research, London is a VERY expensive city to live and work in. Its one of the more expensive cities to live in alone. So things kinda petered out when I found out the costs of immagrating over there, and finding a place, etc etc. Theres two places that I would live in if givin that I had enough cash, etc. London is one. Vancouver is the other.

2. A big part of your life is your wife Crystal, but you have what would be for most a very adventurous meeting. You met on-line. When was it that you decided to actually meet up with her in real life, and what did your parents say when you told them how you met?

I had offered to put her up for her vacation. She was flip flopping on where to go. She had a couple of choices. Flordia was one, Vancouver or staying home. SO I offered her a place to stay as well as sightseeing as I had lived in the city about 4 or 5 years at that point so I knew my way around, and play tour guide to a friend that came over from the UK. When I told my parents there were very happy for me that I had found someone. Course my parents are like that, they support me in anything that I do.

3. You spent a fair amount of your childhood in Vernon BC, and then ten years in Yellowknife. Was it always a plan of yours to move back to BC (I am assuming because you attended post secondary there)? What about BC attracted you to go back?

I only spent up until the end of grade 3 in Vernon. I started grade 4 in Yellowknife. So I like to think that I grew up in Yellowknife and not Vernon. No never was my plan to move back to BC, but my parents wanted me to go to college so while I was away at Cadet Camp, I was looking into places, and actually called them from Whitehorse in the middle of the summer. They asked me to get back to them when I got home. So I did. Bu the time I got the nessicary government funding, it was the middle of december. I flew down and took the entrance exam, and started a couple of days after the begining of the new year. Whew!

4. Voyeurism is a very ‘opinionated’ subject. What about it is appealing to you, and why do you continue to keep your web cam going 24/7??

It started out as a way to keep in touch with my parents while I was at school. They watched me open christmas presents one year, and thought it was very cool. (before they moved south, they even had a web cam on their computer!) I think I keep it going just to meet new people. Crystal and I may have met on LiveJournal, but we communicated via webcam.

5. You and Crystal have posted before about the lack of desire to have children… but you have thought of names you like for children. Was this a decision you decided because of your life with Crystal.. or was this a choice you had made previous to her?

I like kids. Well I tolerate the well behaved ones, but never really wanted any of my. I see how my young cousin acts and while most of it is not his fault, I really don’t wanna be a shitty parent. I wanna be the best husband that I can be. I’ve never really thought about names. Every once in a while I hear a name that I think would be really cool for a kid. But we don’t want any.
