Boxing Day.
Boxing day, we got up early had something to eat, and stopped quickly at the Wal-mart to grab some last minute things. I grabbed some A535, and some Buckleys for Crystal. I also grabbed some choclate covered liquors for Brian and Robin, and a book for nanny. Earlier in the week I also introduced KinderSurprise to Crystal, I think she loved it!
After Wal-Mart, we settled in for a 2.5 hour trip to where my parents live. We stopped to get gas, and I found Brian a bag of roast chicken flavoured potato chips. Its weird cause in Rhode island, you can get anywhere in the state in 45 minutes or less so by the end of the drive it was nice to stand up. It was a beautiful drive, with nothing but straight roads and farmland as far as the eye could see. We saw cows, horses, and even llamas.
When we got to Rocky Mountain House, we got settled in to my parents 5th wheel. Man is it a nice home. I was very jealous of Neal’s big screen tv! We sat and watched Miami ink on tv and chatted. Neal went to have a nap while Crystal and I were getting hissed at by my moms cat. Crystal even got scratched by her.
After Neal got up, we decided on where to go for supper. I suggested the Black Stump, or as I called it, the sump pump! Unfortunatly it was closed. Neal wanted to go to Red Deer, which is a town about 45 minutes away for supper. But we convinced him to go to Boston Pizza, which is right down the road from where we were. So we went there and had a great dinner. I finally got some Baked Tortilini Alfredo, that I had been talking about for years and years.
When we got back to their trailer, we went through old pictures of me, neal and my mom. Crystal got to choose some new crochet patterns, and we turned in early for one of the longest days of the whole trip. In the morning we got up, dressed, and stopped at Tim Hortons for coffee and breakfast. Looking back on it now, I should have gotten something to eat, cause it was the last time we could have eaten untill about 6is-7ish that night.
We got through customs very easily and made our way to the gate. By this time it had started to snow. Uh-oh. First our plane was delayed getting to the gate, so we had to wait another hour. When we could finally board, we waited, we waited to get the bags on, and waited to be de-iced. All in all, I think we waited in the plane for another 2.5 hours. Then we got to take off!
Course when we landed in Chicago, all of the connecting flights had expired, so we raced to the ticket counter and managed to get ourselves on another flight to Providence. Along with a 90 minute wait. So i got us some McDonalds, and we wolfed that down and waited. At last we could board and we took off on time. If you ever get the chance to sit in the emergency exit row, do it, you get lots of leg room, and a funky fold out tray. We got to watch and episode of the Office. That passed the time great. So we actually landed in Providence about 10 minutes early.
Getting our bags was alot easier this time. Course we only got 1 out of 2 bags, so I had to do some more paperwork again. This time I knew the drill, and got it delivered to Nanny house. I think it came the next day, which was great as it had all the Christmas presents in it. By this time it was about 1:30 am so I called the walmart 1800 number, and chose “Natural Disaster” and called out cause I knew it would be about 2:30-3am when we finally got home. It was and we slept untill about 10-11 the next day.
Its nice to visit Canada, but even nicer to sleep in your own bed at the end of the trip.
